TCM is an ancient, holistic system of health care that originated over 3,000 years ago. It views the body as an integrated whole, focusing on balancing the flow of vital energy (Qi), and maintaining harmony between the internal organ systems and the external environment. Treatments commonly include acupuncture, herbal medicine, and Tui Na (massage).
Qi is often translated as vital life energy or the circulating life force whose flow and balance are essential for health. TCM practitioners diagnose imbalances in the quantity or flow of Qi to determine treatment.
TCM is used to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions. Some common areas include:
Pain Management: Back pain, headaches/migraines, arthritis, sciatica.
Digestive Issues: IBS, acid reflux, constipation.
Emotional Health: Stress, anxiety, insomnia.
Women's Health: Menstrual irregularities, fertility support, menopause symptoms.
Immune Support: Allergies, frequent colds.
Many other conditions be treated too!
Most people feel very little to no pain. When the acupuncture needle reaches the desired depth and stimulates the Qi, you might feel a brief, dull ache, heavy sensation, small electrical sensation or warmth. This is normal and indicates the treatment is working. Sometimes it may have a delay in sensation depending on individual's constitution.
The number of sessions depends entirely on your condition, how long you've had it, and your body's response to treatment.
Some acute cases may require 4-6 sessions
Some chronic conditions may require a longer course with 1-2 sessions per week for several weeks or months.
